The Story of the Lonely Library Table
Once Upon a time…
…there was a lonely library table (or drum table) sitting in a dingy second hand store in a small town with one stop light. I don’t know how many people walked by before this one lady stopped, cleared off the top of him and gave him a good look. Sure, he was scratched, dented and dinged. He wasn’t missing anything major and still had a strong frame and he had “Good Bones” as she said.
The lady purchased him knowing he had potential but had no clue, nor inspiration at that time to help him along his journey. Till one day she dragged him from the garage and began cleaning, scrubbing, rinsing, sanding, removing parts and polishing. Oh it felt so good, he thought to himself.
Then he noticed something… she brought over a sketch book. He could not see the design she began to draw but it tickled and scratched just in the right spots and he began to have hope. Hope, that someone would love him again. Once satisfied with her outlines she mixed up a soothing gel and began to apply it to his freshly sanded wood top. His colors started to change and the design slowly emerged. It was a Compass… oh the joy he felt as he knew he was going somewhere new to be loved once again soon.
The artist poured hours into the details, rotating, staining, glazing and sealing. After days past and she had painted and distressed his body and base he began to really feel like a new table. Standing his full 22.5″ tall and broadening his with to 28″, he had nothing to hid any more. He was bright and cheerful and ready to explore.
Now you can watch him transform with this Time Lapse Video…
A new name was given to our now confidant library table… Amerigo! The man whom our great nation is named after. An Italian explorer, financier, navigator and cartographer who helped discover the lands of America were not the Indies it had be thought to be. There is a brief history lesson for the day.
As a “Library Table“, Amerigo can be used to story your favorite exciting adventure books… Have a cup of coffee or tea while you read.
Or you could put him in a parlor or swanky bachelor pad and store your libations within his cabinets and enjoy your evening cocktail while you ponder your next big traveling adventure. As a library table he can hold all your maps and exploring devices.
Our once lonely library table was now a shining jewel! A conversational statement piece for any room, home and family to love. Do you love him as much as this artist?
