Meet “Charlotte” this French Antique Entryway Table. When I begin working on a piece I usually have a general vision. As the work progresses it becomes clear as to what the piece may want. It’s like they whisper to me…”Help, I want to be beautiful again”. This was the case of Charlotte.
First she needed to be re-loved, she had veneer and water marks that needed attention. Second she had yellowing and peeling polyurethane finish that had to be removed.
This left a stunning, beautiful and clear wood grains to show off. My research estimates she is from the early 1900s. Because of her age, she is imperfectly perfect, ready to be adored for all her new and old charm and character, and looking for a good home.
Thirdly everything about her finish is new. Therefore, She has a beautifully distressed coat of French country blue revealing hints of snow white and gold. This is soft subtle color with a stunning wood veneer top and shelf is a fantastic combination. The wood color was chosen with just a tint of cocoa to accent the perfection of the original veneer design. The stains, sealers and paints are all high quality, eco friendly and VOC free paints, Terra Bella Paints and Finishes.
After that, she wanted more. She needed a wow factor to make her just shine like the beauty she once was. The hand drawn peony design is one of a kind, unique to this piece, drawn by Artist L. Grace Lauer of UniquelyGrace.com.
